Part Definitions Form / Dialog
All information of a
Part Definition can be configured in the Part Definition Dialog.
The figure below shows a screen shot for this Dialog. Below this screen shot the
different entries will be discussed.
The form consists of the following parts:
- Status and creation information, this section in the upper left corner shows when
and by whom the Part Definition was created. The state and the icon show the current
State of the Part Definition.
- The state of the Part Definition can be changed by pressing the 'Next' button in
the upper right corner. At the moment the Part Definition can move back, a Previous
button will be shown as well. The sequence of states for a Part Definition: Pending
-> Active -> Closed.
- Control buttons on the left:
- Clone: Will create a new part using the information of this part definition.
Note: Do not use 'Clone' if you would like to make a new revision for this Part
Definition. Use the Revs tab instead. (see below)
- Refresh: Will query the data for this Part Definition from the server. Press
this button if you think the information shown in the form is not up to date.
- Delete: Only in the Pending state can a Part Definition be deleted.
- Tabs, the General Tab is the default tab and the form opens with this tab on top.
Below the different tabs will be discussed.
General Tab
On the General Tab of the Part Definition the following information is defined:
Suppliers
In case you purchase this part from a vendor, then you can enter the vendor information
on this tab. It is possible to have more than a single supplier for each part.
Specifications
For each Part Definition values for specification can be entered. These values can
be used within Step Definitions to check data entries against the specifications.
So if Part A has a thickness spec of 1 micron and Part 2 has a thickness spec of
2 micron it is possible to use the same thickness measurement step to determine
if the parts comply with the specification.
Controlled Documents
On this tab any system controlled document can be referenced.
BOM
For each part a Bill of Material can be defined by attaching child parts and defining
the quantity.
