EZ-MES MES Software: Barcode Labels
How to Configure barcode Labels
EZ-MES supports barcode printers that send ASCII based label files to the Label
Printer. In the following we will assume Zebra Printers, but it could work for any
label printer that accepts ASCII based files to print the label.
To create your own custom Part Label, you have to take the following steps:
- Design your Label
- Print the Label File to an ASCII that the Label Printer accepts (a ZPL file for
Zebra Printers).
- In case you want to connect EZ-MES information, replace strings in the ASCII file
with <%VARNAME%>.
- Create a Controlled Document
Object.
- Upload the ASCII file to the
Controlled Document Object.
- Link the VARNAME with any EZ-MES information by adding the Variables on the
Controlled Document Object.
- Link the
Part Definition or the
Step Definition to the Controlled
Document.
- Dependent if you linked to the
Traveler, or to the
Part Record, additional buttons will appear on the Traveler Form or on the
Part Record Form
