EZ-MES MES Software: Configuration of the System
Part Definition
The Part Definition is the
EZ-MES Object that serves as a templates (blue print, hence the
blue color of the icon) for
Part Records. Each
Part Record within EZ-MES is connected to a Part Definition.
NOTE: Part Definitions are not Parts, they are a definition of a Part, and
Part Records are the actual instances of these Part Definitions that
represent Real-World Parts.

Some background
The Part Definition is an attribute on the Part Record. A Part Record cannot exist
without a Part Definition Attribute. So before you can create Part Records, for which you
do not yet have a definition, you have first have to create a new Part Definition.

Step Definitions your are able to change the Part Definition attribute
on a
Part Record
Part Definition States
As most EZ-MES
Configuration objects, Part Definitions can have one of the following
States:
- Pending: Not yet released. Pending Part Definitions are only accessible for
users with configuration rights
- Active
- Archived: Not active anymore, normally used when part definitions are replaced by
new revisions or are taken out of roulation.
- Deleted: Parts can only be deleted in the pending state.
